The photo above shows Freeport High School in 1950. At the bottom of the photo are the athletic fields where the Physical Education classes are held. Football practices are held both here and in the Pretzel Bowl, shown just above the school.
At the very top of the photo is an empty field where Blackhawk Elementary School will be built in 1954.
At the far right is the field where Freeport Junior High School will be built on 38 acres, opening for ninth graders on Jan. 28, 1952, and 7th & 8th graders in September, 1952.

My father's 1950 license plate.

And if you didn't have a car, you could always take a cab.

King's Daughters Childrens Home from a 1950 postcard.

Diagram showing the tracks of the Illinois Central Railroad in 1950. The scale is 1 inch to 100 feet. Streets shown are Wright, Madison, Winneshiek, Miami, and Iroquois. Multiple tracks are shown, along with a roundhouse between the yard and the Pecatonica River. This area is just east of the old W. T. Rawleigh factory.
